Tomato-Cream Sauce
Ingredients:
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 diced onion
1 minced clove of garlic
1 14.5 oz. can of Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tbsp. dried basil leaves
¾ tsp. white sugar
¼ tsp. dried oregano
¼ tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
½ cup heavy cream
1 tbsp. butter
In a saucepan, saute onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat. Make sure it doesn’t burn. Add the tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and continue to boil for 5 minutes, or until most of the liquid evaporates. Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream and butter. Reduce heat and simmer 5 more minutes.
